You Must Not Have a History of Drinking and Driving

There are many companies that will not hire someone if they have a history of drinking and driving to work as a PIT driver. This is because the person could be a huge liability for the company. If you were to get on the equipment intoxicated, you could cause a lot of damage or injure someone. You need to be able to pass a drug and alcohol test at all times when working as a PIT driver because if you get into an accident, you will be forced to take a test to determine if you were intoxicated in any way when operating the equipment.

You Must Go Through Thorough Training 

In order to get your license as a PIT driver, you must go through thorough training and pass a test to prove that you know how to work all of the PIT equipment safely. There are some machines that you have to ride to operate them and some that you walk behind for operation. You need to make sure you test for the right machinery when you go to the take the test.

Once you have the PIT license, you can still lose it if you get into a careless accident, are caught operating the equipment unsafely, or get a DUI while you are off work.
